Today was my mom's birthday paint party and it was a lot of fun. I am now exhausted, but it was a fun. The morning started with a cup of good coffee and me making her rainbow naked cake. I wanted the cake to make the paint them and thought this would be a fun and beautiful cake, plus I never done a naked cake before. To make the cake I made a single recipe of vanilla cake mix (or you can use one box) and divided the batter into three bowls and colored them three different colors of the rainbow. I baked as normal and repeated the process with the last three colors. Once the cake was cooled, I leveled each layer and stacked and filled it with buttercream. I started with purple on the bottom and recreated the rainbow in reverse until I got to the red top layer. To create the naked look I piped very little frosting in the crease of two layers and smoothed it out so a lot of the colorful cake would show, but covered the very top of the cake completely. To finish it off I added some colorful rainbow colored flowers and placed it on a cake platter with a rainbow ribbon. The cake was colorfully delicious and so much fun to cut into!
