I'm really proud how the cake came together with such a quick turn around and Jacob really liked it too!

![]() Pokemon Go is the biggest craze right now and it didn't surprise me when I got this last minute request for a Pokemon birthday cake. The cake was covered in light blue of fondant, with yellow stars in different sizes. I knew there were going to be Pokemon toys around the cake so the only other decoration was a round rice crispy treat covered in fondant to look like a Poke ball. I use a large round cookie cutter to make the black circle and used a smaller one to make the white circle in the center. The lightning bolts were made from yellow fondant and gum paste, which allows them to stand upright. Lastly, the name was made by rolling a thin rope of yellow fondant and shaped into the letters, tacked in place with sugar water. I pipped a little buttercream to hold the toys in place and the cake was finished! I'm really proud how the cake came together with such a quick turn around and Jacob really liked it too!

![]() Since attending Business Boutique in May, I have been trying to sort out what I want to do with my career. As previously posted I want to leave my job and pursue other passions. But until I can figure that out, I thought I could start with having a pretty work are to work at. I bought a calendar and corkboard that I painted light teal to match the other colors. I used an old silver marker board and even made a memory board; these four items were roughly the same size and made a great grid pattern on the wall. I also bought a galvanized hanging wall file sorter and a matching envelope to hold any incoming mail. I found the awesome wall mounted spotlight at Target for $10 and the lighted M at Michael's for $5 on sale. I finished the wall with a white wooding sign that I will one day put my Oak Tree Junction logo on and then two smaller canvases I painted in shades of teal, I will add clear chalkboard paint over the teal so I can write motivational quotes and other things as needed. I love how the wall came out and can't wait to see it all together with the remodeled desk! |
