To make the cake I made a single recipe of vanilla cake mix (or you can use one box) and divided the batter into three bowls and colored them three different colors of the rainbow. I baked as normal and repeated the process with the last three colors.
Today was my mom's birthday paint party and it was a lot of fun. I am now exhausted, but it was a fun. The morning started with a cup of good coffee and me making her rainbow naked cake. I wanted the cake to make the paint them and thought this would be a fun and beautiful cake, plus I never done a naked cake before. To make the cake I made a single recipe of vanilla cake mix (or you can use one box) and divided the batter into three bowls and colored them three different colors of the rainbow. I baked as normal and repeated the process with the last three colors. Once the cake was cooled, I leveled each layer and stacked and filled it with buttercream. I started with purple on the bottom and recreated the rainbow in reverse until I got to the red top layer. To create the naked look I piped very little frosting in the crease of two layers and smoothed it out so a lot of the colorful cake would show, but covered the very top of the cake completely. To finish it off I added some colorful rainbow colored flowers and placed it on a cake platter with a rainbow ribbon. The cake was colorfully delicious and so much fun to cut into!

![]() As many of my Instagram followers know I love the Duchess of Cambridge, formerly Kate Middleton’s style. I feel she is my generations, Princess Diana. The whole premise of my Etsy shop is replicating (or repli-kates as we say it) her jewelry. Even my blessing dress from a few years ago was inspired by her wedding dress. My birthday dress was inspired by her Black Lace dress too. Both of those were made from scratch, but I found my version of the DVF dress from all places but on Walmart for under $7! As soon as I saw the dress online it instantly reminded me of her DVF dress. She only wore this dress twice that we know of back in 2011, I’ve always thought it was a pretty dress and would be fun to “repli-kate” it. This great Walmart find was the perfect shade of green, but the buttons were gunmetal and I wanted them to be gold to match hers so that was an easy fix. After I replaced the buttons I tried the dress on with the V and buttons towards the front as it was meant to be worn, but it reminded me of an old fashion nightgown. SO I decided to try something I have never done before and turned it backward. It then looked just like the Kate dress! Her dress had the same “V” along the back with the buttons and a high neckline on the front. The only major difference was major difference was the buttons on the DVF dress go all the way to the bottom and I didn’t want to have to cut the dress and re-sew it with a fold so the buttons would make sense. In the end, the dress was so comfortable and very classy, I even paired it with my “repli-Kate” temple earrings I purchased from another great Etsy shop just like the Duchess did and wore it to a charity dinner! ![]() Baptism cakes are probably my second favorite cakes to make. My first being baby shower cakes. One celebrates a new life coming into the world and the other celebrates a new soul coming into the Church. This cake was my first huge baptism cake, three tiers of girly elegance. The bottom tier was covered in baby pink fondant ruffles. The second tier was white with her name in the same pink fondant with white lace wrapped around the tier. The top tier is my favorite with pink fondant with a white fondant banner wrapped around the cake. In the center was a gold cross surrounded by white little flowers with pearls in the center. Lastly, the cake was topped off with a beautiful white flower. Such a beautiful cake to celebrate a beautiful day! |
