This cake just screams girlie. After baking, filling, and covering the cake with white fondant, I hand painted the cheetah print, I used tan, gold, and black gel food coloring with a dab of vodka. I started with the tan and gold on a plate and added a little vodka on the side, I slowly mixed the tan and gold with the vodka to get the color and thickness I needed. I then started to slowly add the cheetah spots all around the cake. Carefully I surrounded the cheetah spots with black details; I also added a few smaller solid black spots. I always brushed from the inside to the out to create the fur texture. Once the spots where completed, I painted tan and gold fur patches over the remaining white fondant. As the food color/paint dried, I began making the MAC makeup. I used different colors of fondant to make the eye shadows, mascara bottle, and foundation tube. I used black fondant to make the eye shadows holders, brushes, and lids. To create the vertical MAC lid I mixed black fondant with gum paste and let try flat with toothpicks. I sprayed a little edible silver spray on white fondant to create the metal bands on the brushes. I added bristles details to the brushes and piped MAC on the lid, mascara bottle and foundation tube. I am really proud of all of the detail work I did on this cake.
I created this blog to share my creations with hopes that it will inspire others to show their creative side. I love to show case my friend's photography so a lot of the photos are from her. I hope you get inspired.
