Now I have made some fun and weird cakes in the past, but this camo wedding cake takes the cake! The couple was young and vibrant so when we had our cake consultation ideas were flying off the wall. At one point it was suggested to do a confederate flag (Future Hubby is from Georgia). Thankfully, I was able to persuade them to a traditional style wedding cake with an exciting twist. When the cake would be cut, it would reveal an army green camouflage pattern.
To create the layered camo cake, I divided the cake batter into three bowls and colored them a light tan, forest green, and army green, and chocolate. Using a disher I scooped out the different colors batter on laying on top of one another and repeated until all the pans were full.

After the cake layers were cool, I stacked the layers using three piping bags, each filled with buttercream in one of the same colors as the batter. I crumb coated the cakes using white buttercream to prevent the dark colors showing through the white fondant.
When each tier was covered in the fondant and secured in place, I piped the little details and added the yellow ribbon along the base of the tiers. Since this was an outdoor wedding and was going to be hot, I used fake colorful roses and succulents for the top and a few between the tiers.

The cake came out so beautifully and I wish I could have seen the look on their faces when the cut into it!
